Tour green homes, gardens and community spaces throughout Arlington
Featuring a Green Community Celebration at Shirlington Library Plaza

The Green Home and Garden Tour is now the Green Community Tour and Celebration with three concurrent offerings:
- A self-guided tour of homes, gardens, and community spaces
- A bicycle tour led by Bike Arlington (please register by 1 p.m. June 5 for bike tour)
- A free community celebration at Shirlington Library with exhibits focused on sustainability and family-friendly fun.
The Green Community Tour highlights different ways to go green in your home and garden as well as examples of green spaces for schools and multifamily properties. The self-guided tour features various homes and community spaces with energy-efficient technologies, watershed-friendly gardens, food and flower gardens, wildlife habitats, native plants, natural play features, and more.
As part of the Green Community Tour, we are pleased to partner with BikeArlington which is providing a guided bike tour. The tour will start at Shirlington Library and features four to five of the tour locations. The bike tour will be 12 to 14 miles and is recommended for experienced cyclists.
The concurrent free Green Community Celebration at Shirlington Library Plaza will have exhibits and family-friendly fun. Exhibits as of 6/1 include:
- Arlington County Office of Sustainability and Environmental Management
- Stormwater Management
- Rethink Energy
- Arlington Public Library
- Arlington Regional Master Naturalists
- EcoAction Arlington
- Plant Nova Natives
- Quinn Laffey, boy scout project
- Tree Stewards
- Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners
The fee to register for the tour is $5 per person (a fee waiver is available if needed.) The tour booklet with addresses and descriptions of homes will be emailed to registrants after registration. Registration is also available onsite at Shirlington Library from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Bike Tour registration from 12:30-1 p.m. Registration is not required for the Celebration at Shirlington Library.
