Elenor Hodges
Executive Director

Elenor has been EcoAction Arlington’s executive director since 2000. Her previous experience includes environmental consulting with DynCorp, developing the Animal Tracks environmental education program for Wal-Mart and program management in the education department at National Wildlife Federation. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia and a Masters of Education from George Mason University. She lives in Arlington with her husband and two daughters.
Michele Bianchi
Communications Coordinator

Michele began as a volunteer with EcoAction Arlington after moving to Arlington in 2016. She joined EcoAction Arlington in April 2019 as the program and outreach assistant and is now the Communications Coordinator. She is excited to be a part of promoting sustainability in Arlington and passionate about caring for our environment.
William Earl “Bill” Campbell

Bill joined EcoAction Arlington and the Virginia Cooperative Extension in May 2023 as the part-time Energy Masters Coordinator. As of June 2025, he is the Eco Ambassadors Coordinator. He was a civilian employee for thirty-three years with the Department of Defense as a Design and Project engineer and also a Project and Program Manager. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University and a Masters Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Georgetown University. Bill also served on the Alexandria City Public School Board. A father of three adult children, he lives in Alexandria with his wife and their two grand dogs!
Eden Clymire-Stern

Eden joined EcoAction Arlington in October 2025 as the Communication and Outreach Assistant. Before joining EcoAction Arlington, Eden worked as an urban forester in Washington, DC, and as an extension educator in West Virginia. She has a degree in Forestry from West Virginia University and a Master’s degree in Natural Resources with a concentration in Forestry from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Her passion lies in environmental justice and working with the community. Eden enjoys hiking, gardening, crafting, and spending time with her family and friends.
Kim Fredrich

Kim has been concerned about the environment since she convinced her parents to stand in line in the cold Canadian winters to recycle cans and plastic when she was in high school in the 80s! After seeing David Attenborough’s climate documentary “A Life on Our Planet”, Kim became convinced that she needed to do much more to accelerate the reduction of carbon emissions. She sought out ways to use her entrepreneurial sales and marketing background to influence more people to take more action more consistently. She became an EcoAmbassador in the fall of 2025 and a trained Climate Fresk facilitator in the winter of 2026. As a long-time Arlington resident, she’s thrilled to be able to contribute to the work that EcoAction Arlington is doing in her community.

Maria Martinez Bustamante

Maria Martinez joined EcoAction Arlington in February 2026 to lead community-based initiatives that promote sustainability, environmental stewardship, and climate action at the local level. She develops and manages programs that engage residents, volunteers, and corporate partners in hands-on activities such as stream cleanups, waste reduction campaigns, and environmental education. Maria holds a master’s degree in Sustainability, with a focus on global food policy and agri-food systems management. She is also a certified climate action facilitator through Climate Fresk. Passionate about connecting people to the environment and food production, Maria is especially dedicated to youth education and fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable food systems. She brings this passion to life through her love of gardening and her commitment to creating spaces where communities can learn, grow, and take meaningful climate action together.

Kisha Sogunro
Tree Canopy Equity Program

Kisha joined EcoAction Arlington in November 2022 to work with the Tree Canopy Equity Program. Kisha is a dynamic and innovative public-sector leader that has garnered 12 national, state and local awards for her successful projects. Her body of work includes introducing Family Search, the largest genealogical database in the world, to local NAACP chapters to connect families across generations. Additionally, having recruited over 10,000 volunteers, she is internationally recognized for her leadership in community and volunteer engagements. One of her proudest moments came in 2011, when she was invited to participate at the White House as part of the President’s “Champions of Change” program. Kisha earned a Master’s degree in Strategic Communications and Leadership from Seton Hall University and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Brigham Young University.

OUR BOARD MEMBERS

Norman Barth
Dr. Norman Barth is a retired U.S. Foreign Service officer. His twenty years at the U.S. State Department included serving on delegations to the UNFCCC Climate Change negotiations and as the U.S. Liaison to the Buildings and Appliances Task Force of the Asia-Pacific Partnership for Clean Development and Climate. His post-doctoral research at MIT, Harvard, Brown, and Freiburg University in Germany centered mostly on climate and climate modeling. His last academic position was at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Norman lives in Arlington and has two daughters.

Dr. Liliana Diaz
Dr. Liliana Diaz is an international energy economics and policy expert who bridges strategic analysis with community action. With 16 years as a consultant at leading global firms advising governments, corporations, and investors on decarbonization strategy and sustainable energy infrastructure, Liliana has driven market creation and policy frameworks across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. She holds a PhD in International Economics and Energy Policy from Johns Hopkins SAIS where she teaches graduate courses focused on energy, economics and applied policy. She is currently a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center. Believing that local action is fundamental to energy and climate solutions, Liliana joins EcoAction Arlington to translate her policy expertise into community-level environmental impact.

Jennifer Endo
Jennifer has dedicated her career to affordable housing and community development. She is excited to bring her experience leading initiatives that strengthen civic engagement to help EcoAction. As a 30-year Arlington resident who enjoys our local parks each day with her dog, Jennifer is passionate about environmental stewardship. She is committed to supporting programs that build community resilience and empower residents to act to protect our climate and realize environmental justice.

Sampak Garg
Sampak grew up primarily in Northern California, but has called Arlington home for over a decade now. As a husband and father, he cherishes Arlington’s livability and community. Our natural resources are a big part of what makes Arlington a great place to live, and Sampak wants to be part of an organization that helps preserve them. He currently works as a lawyer for a large technology company.

Aisha Husain
Aisha works on Federal energy efficiency regulations for appliances. Seeking ways outside of work to engage in climate change solutions, Aisha was fortunate enough to find EcoAction Arlington as well as the Energy Masters program. As a volunteer she has been continually impressed with EcoAction Arlington’s commitment and effectiveness. Arlington has made some good progress and has the potential to be a leader as a climate solution community. As a board member Aisha hopes to assist EcoAction Arlington in its holistic approach to addressing climate change in Arlington through education, advocacy, and implementation of technological, social, and behavioral solutions.

Leslie Louden
Leslie’s work as an architect and planner for education and research is rooted in sustainability and resilience. Recently retired from professional practice, she is applying that expertise to environmental activism. With EcoAction Arlington’s advocacy committee, she coordinates with County representatives to promote environmental policies and enhanced sustainability for projects seeking approval. An Arlington resident for over 30 years, her home renovations embody sustainable design, urban agriculture and wildlife habitat. Getting outdoors as an avid cyclist and walker shapes her perspective on sustainable urban planning. As a board member, Leslie aspires to expand EcoAction Arlington’s advocacy and outreach to the Arlington community.

Michael Lowe
Mike is currently serving as Board Chair. Mike’s environmental consciousness was formed during a high-school semester on an organic farm in Vermont. Ever since, he has aspired to be a suburban homesteader and to live a lower-impact life. Professionally, Mike is a management consultant and works with companies, government agencies, and law firms to strategize, solve difficult problems, and implement change programs. Mike is thrilled about the opportunity to contribute his professional skills and passion to support EcoAction Arlington’s mission. Moreover, he is eager to engage with and learn from a diverse community of Arlingtonians who share a commitment to making our county a model of sustainability.

Jim Lyon
Jim has lived in Arlington for 40+ years, and recently retired after 45 years in environmental policy/advocacy for several national organizations. Jim spent the last 25 years with National Wildlife Federation as Vice President for Policy guiding policy/advocacy campaigns on a host of conservation issues. Jim has been privileged to work with many citizen organizations across the country facing environmental impacts. Now retired, Jim is interested in volunteering locally to enhance community conservation, advance climate solutions, and help youth connect with nature to lead us forward.

Joan McIntyre
Joan is passionate about tapping into the power for grassroots and local action to lead the way in addressing the climate crisis and creating a sustainable and prosperous world for future generations. Since retiring from the federal government in 2015, Joan has volunteered for EcoAction Arlington and other local organizations supporting environmental sustainability and combating the climate crisis. Joan previously served on the Board from 2015-2021 and has continued to support our advocacy and outreach efforts. Joan is also a Commissioner on Arlington’s Climate Change, Energy, and Environment Commission and a Master Gardener. She has lived in Cherrydale for 40+ years and enjoys working in her garden.

Shawn Norton
Shawn currently serves as the U.S. National Park Service (NPS) Branch Chief, Sustainable Operations. Shawn integrates agency sustainability goals and objectives into NPS parks and program centers including climate change resilience and adaptation. Shawn lives in Arlington with his wife and three children. He loves hiking, biking, and kayaking in our national and state parks among other outdoor activities. In his role as a board member, he would like to develop and implement strategic initiatives aimed at sustainability, environmental stewardship, and community engagement across a wide range of our community.

Levi Novey
Levi started his career as a park ranger and worked in many of our country’s amazing national parks. He lived in Peru for several years and worked on environmental conservation and sustainability there. Since moving to Arlington in 2010, Levi and his wife realized that they wanted to create deeper roots in our community. Impressed by the positive and tangible impacts of EcoAction Arlington, he is excited to offer his career experience and skills to help the organization achieve its goals. As more people acknowledge the interconnectedness between nature, climate change, human well-being, and strong economies, it’s a terrific time to galvanize new and diverse champions within Arlington who think globally, and act locally.

Leslie Patykewich
Leslie has worked in global public health for 20 years. Throughout her career, it’s become increasingly apparent that the climate crisis is also a health crisis with climate change inextricably linked to air pollution, food insecurity, higher risks of infectious disease outbreaks, with underserved communities suffering the most. While her work focuses on the intersection of health and climate around the world, she had been looking for ways to engage in climate action in Arlington more meaningfully. With its mission to educate, advocate and act, EcoAction Arlington provides this opportunity. Leslie is excited to support EcoAction and offer her experience, skills and energy to help achieve its goals. Now, more than ever, there is an urgency to work together as a community to become more sustainable and resilient.

Lauren Raizada
Lauren Raizada is a Big Four consultant with 15 years of experience in audit and finance transformation. She resides in Arlington’s Lyon Park neighborhood and enjoys exploring the area’s bike trails and parks. Lauren looks forward to applying her financial expertise and innovative perspective to advance EcoAction Arlington’s mission of fostering a more sustainable community in Arlington. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three daughters at local cafés and parks.

Andrea Reese
Andrea has spent more than 17 years working in land conservation, including about eight years in roles specific to Northern Virginia, with both nonprofits and public agencies. Andrea comes to EcoAction Arlington looking for new ways to engage locally as a volunteer while bringing her professional experience and training to bear. What excites her about EcoAction Arlington are its service across many walks of life in Arlington and its results-oriented, approachable style. Andrea was raised in Idaho, with plenty of camping and backyard birding. She has lived in Arlington for over 10 years, and especially loves visiting local parks with family and friends.

Alex Rough
Alex is a Northern Virginia native with a strong background in environmental advocacy and sustainability. Alex has played a key role in shaping regional policies, contributing to the Fairfax County Community Wide Energy and Climate Action Plan, being appointed to numerous Fairfax County boards and commissions, and advising the Town of Herndon Sustainability Commission. As a systems engineer in the tech industry, Alex has also been deeply engaged in data center sustainability, leveraging years of hands-on experience to advocate for greener infrastructure, a commitment that led to his feature in a BBC documentary. Driven by a vision of Arlington as a leader in sustainability, Alex is dedicated to advancing policies that promote environmental stewardship, walkability, and climate resilience, making the city a model for others to follow.

Josephine is a student at Yorktown High School. Josephine enjoys spending a lot of time outside, skiing, biking, and playing golf. One of the things she learned from her grandmother, is that it is important to take care of our environment. On walks along a beach, her grandmother would take a bag to collect any trash or recyclables! Josephine is excited to be part of EcoAction Arlington because, like her grandmother, its members want to preserve outdoor spaces for future generations by fostering environmentally friendly and sustainable practices.

Sid is a sophomore at Yorktown High School. He enjoys playing the saxophone and spending time outdoors, especially through backpacking with his Scouting America troop. Sid cares deeply about the environment, and looks forward to participating in stream cleanups and community outreach through EcoAction Arlington.
Sonia Jackson

Sonia is a student at Flint Hill School, where she is Vice President of the Environmental Club. Environmental issues have always been important to Sonia and her family. She is especially interested in advocacy and joined the EcoAction Student Board to help make a difference in Arlington. Sonia is also a member of the Arlington Students for Climate Action group, a certified stream monitor to evaluate Arlington stream health, and helps to restore native ecosystems at Arlington Bon Air Nature Park. This summer she will participate in the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF)’s intern educational series program.

Nicholas Mathew is a Junior at Washington-Liberty High School. He enjoys spending time outdoors, but especially loves hiking and gardening. His lifetime goal is to protect and restore our native ecosystems, and continue to contribute to the sustainability and care of the Arlington community. Nicholas is passionate about removing non-native invasive plants in our local parks, participating in clean-ups in Northern Virginia, and learning more about our local environment. He has an interest in the sciences and engineering, and hopes to use his interests to further support EcoAction Arlington’s work in conserving energy and promoting solutions to protect our environment. He is eager to make a difference by being a part of the EcoAction Student Board
Julian Reisman
Gunston Middle School
Julian is a 7th grader at Gunston Middle School. This is his first year with EcoAction Arlington, but he is eager and ready to learn. Julian enjoys biking, gardening, playing tennis, and being outdoors. Julian cares a lot about the environment and wants to fight climate change and promote sustainable living. In fifth grade for the FIRST Lego League Challenge, Julian was part of a team called the Lego Bricksters that won first place for their innovation project focused on preventing childhood obesity. Julian’s project was about how to grow fruits and vegetables in one’s own yard or in community gardens.

Eva is a student at Georgetown Day and has volunteered at EcoAction since 2023. Eva is excited to promote sustainability through the student committee. Eva organized a phone banking initiative that made 10,000 calls to potential voters in Georgia. She is also on the board of the Jewish Youth Climate Movement—a Gen-Z led group committed to climate justice. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, running, biking, and playing soccer in Arlington’s outdoors.
