
Administrative Assistant (part-time)
EcoAction Arlington is seeking a part-time administrative assistant. The administrative assistant will support the application and planting process for trees planted through the Arlington County Tree Canopy Fund program and the Tree Canopy Equity Program. This is a part-time hourly position working an average of five hours a week. The majority of the duties will be performed remotely. The position requires in-person support in Arlington, Virginia for the planting contractor during planting season which occurs twice a year. This non-exempt position will be paid on an hourly basis at $23 per hour with no benefits. Priority will be given to applicants who live in Arlington, Virginia.
You will…
- Manage email inquiries and facilitate response within 24 hours (on business days).
- Organize a summary of applications for tree planting in Microsoft Excel including quality control of all data.
- Work within WordPress to update, create, and manage applications.
- Work within Google Drive (Slides, Sheets, Docs) to organize tree data.
- Announce program selections to applicants via email.
- Organize waivers from tree planting participants.
- Providing planting list to tree planting contractor.
- Communicate with property owners about tree planting schedule.
- Answer questions from program recipients during planting season.
- Work with the planting contractor to address urgent issues including occasional site visits.
- Manage requests for inspections of trees not thriving after planting.
- Document relevant communications.
- Perform other tasks as needed

Senior Experience Internships
EcoAction Arlington is looking for high school seniors who wish to complete their Senior Experience working with a nonprofit to bring attention to environmental issues. Interns will be working with other seniors to run an Energy Carnival for elementary students.
Seniors will publicize the program availability to teachers and staff, deliver presentations, organize supplies, and document program accomplishments.
The internship period is 30 hours a week, lasting from three to four weeks. There is flexibility for seniors who want to complete this project from May 11 to June 12, 2026. There are seven positions available.
Position Responsibilities:
- Publicize program availability to teachers and extended day staff.
- Confirm requests for presentations with all schools and finalize outreach calendar.
- Prepare and organize supplies for presentations.
- Deliver presentations to elementary audiences.
- Compile evaluation results.
- Document program accomplishments.
Internship Period: This position is 30 hours per week and lasts three to four weeks. There is flexibility on internship dates in late May/June 2026.

Tree Ambassadors (part-time)
EcoAction Arlington is managing a team of 6 to 7 Tree Ambassadors throughout the year. As positions on this team open, we will consider new applicants on a rolling basis. Priority will be given to candidates residing in Arlington County in one of the 13 target neighborhoods of the EcoAction Arlington Tree Canopy Equity Program and to candidates who have Spanish-language skills.
Tree ambassadors will work up to 20 hours a month year-round promoting free trees. Training will be provided. These non-exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis at $26 per hour with no benefits.
The Tree Ambassadors will support the Outreach Manager at EcoAction Arlington. This role requires a dedicated and passionate candidate who enjoys working at the grassroots level to engage diverse groups. This role is critical in advancing our mission to increase tree canopy coverage in Arlington, with a particular focus on engaging communities with low canopy coverage.
