Energy Masters Program Coordinator

The program coordinator will be hired as a contractor from August 2020 through June 2021 with the possibility of extension. The position is part-time and hours will vary from 60 to 120 hours a month to support three program funders. The hours will start at an average of 60 hours a month and increase to 100 hours a month sometime in September or October. We also have funding for an additional project that we hope to launch this fall. The Energy Masters program coordinator will report to both EcoAction Arlington and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the recruitment of volunteer candidates for the program.
  • Manage, attend and facilitate training program sessions for volunteers.
  • Conduct and maintain inventory of program supplies.
  • Develop partnerships with housing providers.
  • Participate in the site visit and site selection for work days.
  • Contribute to the development of new work streams for volunteers in response to the pandemic.
  • Coordinate work day logistics in advance of and on the work day,
  • Complete post work day task.
  • Assist with the execution of community outreach and education events.
  • Track program statistics for all funders.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Solid supervisory and leadership skills including working with diverse populations.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Being organized, detail oriented, and thrive on logistical challenges.
  • The ability to juggle competing priorities and demands and can work independently.
  • Experience facilitating or organizing trainings for adult learners.
  • The ability to diplomatically address problems and issues using sound judgment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience, strong interest, and/or skills in energy and water conservation and environmental education and outreach.
  • Experience managing volunteers.
  • (Bonus) Spanish language skills.

senior experience internships

Senior Experience Internship

EcoAction Arlington is seeking students interested in completing their high school senior experience project in the spring of 2020 working for a community nonprofit with an internship focusing on environmental education. Students will deliver the Energy Carnival program, a classroom activity designed for elementary students with a focus on energy and our role in energy conservation in the home. This position offers a great opportunity to work with young students and engage them in a fun program while learning about energy and the importance of reducing our consumption in order to reduce greenhouse gases. Students will be working in a team with other high school students. There are a total of seven positions available.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Publicize program availability to teachers and extended day staff.
  • Confirm requests for presentations with all schools and finalize outreach calendar.
  • Prepare and organize supplies for presentations.
  • Deliver presentations to elementary audiences.
  • Compile evaluation results.
  • Document program accomplishments.

Internship Period: This position is 30 hours per week and lasts three to four weeks. There is flexibility on internship dates in late May/June 2021.

  • Strong organization skills.
  • Experience working with kids.
  • Ability to conduct multiple tasks.
