Energy Masters Data Analysis Coordinator

EcoAction Arlington is seeking a data analysis coordinator to plan and execute a strategy for analyzing energy use in properties in which Energy Masters volunteers have completed improvements in order to quantify the impact of our work. Energy Masters is jointly managed by EcoAction Arlington and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

TERMS: This is a fee-for-service contract, term-limited position with no benefits. Our budget is $1,000. The position may be renewed for fiscal year 2021 starting in late July.

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Work with Energy Masters staff, volunteers and partners to review energy data collected in 2019 and 2020 as well as previous data analysis results.
  • Input and analyze data collected.
  • Produce a written report summarizing findings including an executive summary suitable for funders.
  • Share all electronic files with Energy Masters staff so they are accessible for future use.

QUALIFICATIONS:

About you …

  • You are highly organized, detail oriented, and thrive on logistical challenges.
  • You have a background in energy data analysis.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • You have experience writing reports for audiences including program partners and funders.

AVAILABLITY:  The project will take place from May through July 2020 with a final deadline for an analysis report no later than Monday, July 6.


senior experience internships

Senior Experience Internship

EcoAction Arlington is seeking students interested in completing their high school senior experience project in the spring of 2020 working for a community nonprofit with an internship focusing on environmental education. Students will deliver the Energy Carnival program, a classroom activity designed for elementary students with a focus on energy and our role in energy conservation in the home. This position offers a great opportunity to work with young students and engage them in a fun program while learning about energy and the importance of reducing our consumption in order to reduce greenhouse gases. Students will be working in a team with other high school students. There are a total of seven positions available.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Publicize program availability to teachers and extended day staff.
  • Confirm requests for presentations with all schools and finalize outreach calendar.
  • Prepare and organize supplies for presentations.
  • Deliver presentations to elementary audiences.
  • Compile evaluation results.
  • Document program accomplishments.

Internship Period: This position is 30 hours per week and lasts three to four weeks. There is flexibility on internship dates in late May/June 2020.

  • Ability to conduct multiple tasks.

Summer Outreach Internship

EcoAction Arlington is seeking a part-time intern working 10 to 15 hours a week from mid-May through late August to support our community outreach efforts. This position is unpaid although a stipend is available to offset transportation expenses.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Organize EcoAction Arlington presence at farmers markets and the Arlington County Fair including overseeing logistics, recruiting volunteers, organizing supplies, and attending events.
  • Assist with service project events taking place over the summer.
  • Support Straw Free Arlington campaign by doing research, creating and updating communication and marketing materials, and updating the campaign website.
  • Participate in elementary classroom outreach programs about energy from May 20 to June 12 as available.
  • Complete other administrative tasks in the office as assigned.
