Program and Administrative Assistant

EcoAction Arlington is seeking a part-time program and administrative assistant working 5 to 10 hours a week. This is a part-time hourly position from April to November with the possibility of extension if additional funding is available.

Position Responsibilities

  • Organize and implement outreach events and service projects including overseeing logistics, recruiting volunteers, organizing supplies, and attending events.
  • Assist with tracking information for sponsors of our fall EcoExtravaganza celebration.
  • Perform data entry tasks and complete mailings.
  • Edit e-blasts to promote events.
  • Complete other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in planning and executing events
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse partner organizations, program participants, and volunteers
  • Solid organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Background or interest in environmental issues
  • Has availability during both business hours for office work and weekends for outreach and service events. We anticipate there will be an average of one to three weekend events with a higher concentration in the spring and fall.

Senior Experience Internships

Senior Experience Internship

EcoAction Arlington is seeking students interested in completing their high school senior experience project working for a community nonprofit with an internship focusing on environmental education. Students will deliver the Energy Carnival program, a classroom activity designed for elementary students with a focus on energy and our role in energy conservation in the home. This position offers a great opportunity to work with young students and engage them in a fun program while learning about energy and the importance of reducing our consumption in order to reduce greenhouse gases. Students will be working in a team with other high school students. There are a total of seven positions available.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Publicize program availability to teachers and extended day staff.
  • Confirm requests for presentations with all schools and finalize outreach calendar.
  • Prepare and organize supplies for presentations.
  • Deliver presentations to elementary audiences.
  • Compile evaluation results.
  • Document program accomplishments.

Internship Period: This position is 30 hours per week and lasts three to four weeks. There is flexibility in completing this project between May 13 and June 14, 2019.

Qualifications

  • Interest in environmental issues.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Experience working with kids.
  • Ability to conduct multiple tasks.
