Plastic Free Challenge

Join EcoAction Arlington and our community partners for the Plastic Free Challenge to raise awareness about the use of disposable plastic in our lives and provide concrete solutions for reducing the use of plastic.

The Problem

Scientists estimate that eight million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans each year – adding to the estimated 150 million metric tons currently circulating our oceans. According to the Ocean Conservancy, plastic has been found in more than 60 percent of all seabirds and 100 percent of sea turtle species. Ingesting plastic has life-threatening effects on wildlife – and this plastic eventually ends up being digested by humans.
