EcoAction Arlington Events

Volunteer with EcoAction Arlington at our Annual Fall Cleanup

Saturday, September 20th, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Barcroft Park, 4200 South Four Mile Run Dr., Arlington
EcoAction Arlington is working in partnership with Clean Virginia Waterways as part of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup. Every fall, volunteers across Virginia participate in stream, river, and beach cleanups organized by Clean Virginia Waterways to remove the litter and debris and record data about their findings. Please join us at Barcroft Park to remove trash and debris from the stream and woods at one of our favorite local parks! Groups, families, individuals are all welcome! Register today!

Energy Education Training for School Volunteers ‘ 

Tuesday, September 23rd, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Fairlington Community Center, 3308 S. Stafford St., Arlington
This workshop provides training for volunteers to deliver interactive programs to K-12 classrooms. The program features engaging lessons from NEED, the National Energy Education Development Project.

Energy and Faith Workshop ‘ 

Sunday, September 28th, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Universalist Unitarian Church of Arlington, 4444 Arlington Blvd., Arlington
This workshop, presented by EcoAction Arlington and Interfaith Power and Light, will cover the importance of energy efficiency and tips for saving energy in the home with reflection on the responsibility of people of faith to consider the impact of our electricity use.’  A potluck dinner and social hour will be held prior to the event.’  Read more!

Become an Arlington Energy Master

Thursdays, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, November 1, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

‘ 

You, too, can help Arlington become a more sustainable community by becoming an Arlington Energy Master. Get trained by experts in energy efficiency, weatherization, and water conservation techniques, and in delivering community education and outreach programs. Then give back to the community through volunteer service. High school and college students are also welcome to participate as Energy-Masters-in-Training.

Growing Native Seed Collection Project

Sunday, October 12, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Join EcoAction Arlington to help collect native seeds and acorns, which will be used to increase the diversity of native tree stock for local restoration’ projects.’  Register today!

The Friends of Dyke Marsh will host a presentation to’ examine the impact of climate change and sea level rise on the Potomac River and the role of tidal wetlands in buffering storm energy, absorbing floodwaters and performing other ecological services.

Build Your-Own Rain Barrel Workshop

Breathing Life Art Exhibition

This free event explores the unity of human and non-human form through artwork. ‘ All sales’ and donations will benefit Interdependent Pictures, Washington Parks & People and One Common Unity. Free food, cash bar and music!
