Thanks to everybody who took part in our Virtual Community Cleanup for Earth Month 2020!

In total, we collected 742 pieces of trash totaling 193 gallons. The graph shows the trash collected by category. The top categories were paper/cardboard (18%) and plastic pieces (14%).
Participants worked in the Cherrydale, Claremont, Donaldson Run, Westover, Virginia Square, and Bellevue Forest neighborhoods plus the following areas: S. Irving Street, Gulf Branch Nature Center, Barcroft Park, Four Mile Run at S. Glebe Road/Richmond Highway, and the Donaldson Run Trail.
We also had a participant all the way from North Carolina who won the drawing for the gift cards! Clint, a Marine Corps Master Sergeant, cleaned up Camp Lejeune with his daughter. He became connected with EcoAction Arlington when he was stationed at the Pentagon. He said, “Any time I can provide my daughter with a positive experience, I’m all about it. Hopefully, this is something we do as a family every year no matter where we’re stationed.”
