Arlingtonians have already made clear to County officials their support for phasing out noisy, polluting gas-powered leaf blowers. Now two bills are making their way through the Virginia General Assembly that would give localities in dense urban and suburban areas the ability to ban or regulate the use of gas-powered leaf blowers after a minimum transition period of at least 12 months. Here’s how you can let legislators know that you support these bills — HB881 and SB687, which are identical.
For House of Delegates bill go to HOD Speak and scroll down and check HB 881, then hit next to fill out the form and add your comments.
For the Senate bill SB687, you can send an email to your senator and to Senator McPike, who chairs the Local Government Committee, which will be reviewing the bill and recommending it (or not) for consideration by the full Senate. You can get the email address for your senator on the Virginia General Assembly website https://vga.virginia.gov/. Senator McPike’s email is senatormcpike@senate.virginia.gov.
