EcoAction Arlington is happy to announce that applications are now open for our Fall 2025 Tree Planting season. Our Tree Planting Program offers a variety of canopy trees to individuals and community groups on private property. Trees are planted by a contractor. The deadline for applications is June 23. If you own private property in Arlington—whether it’s a single-family home, townhouse, condo, or a place of worship—you may be eligible for a native tree or shrub planted on your property.

It’s that time of year again—

There are two eligible paths for tree selection:
The Tree Canopy Equity Program
The Tree Canopy Equity Program serves historically under-resourced neighborhoods with low tree canopy coverage. Thanks to the generosity of many funders, residents of our 13 target neighborhoods are provided a wider range of species to plant including small trees and shrubs.Review our Tree Canopy Equity Program Species List. Apply for free native tree(s) and shrub(s) through the Tree Canopy Equity Program if you live in one of these neighborhoods:
Arlington View | Buckingham | Green Valley | Radnor/Ft Meyer Heights |
Arlington Mill | Columbia Heights | John M Langston
Aurora Highlands | Glebewood | Long Branch Creek
Barcroft | Glencarlyn | Penrose |
The Tree Planting Program
If you live in a neighborhood other than the 13 listed above and are a property owner, including those of single-family homes, townhouses, condos, and places of worship you may apply for a free native tree(2) to be planted on your property. Review our Tree Planting Program Species List.
**Please note that public properties like schools and parks do not qualify for the Tree Planting Program**
