Student Representatives to the
EcoAction Arlington Board of Directors
Josephine Brook
Yorktown
Josephine is a student at Yorktown High School. Josephine enjoys spending a lot of time outside, skiing, biking, and playing golf. One of the things she learned from her grandmother, is that it is important to take care of our environment. On walks along a beach, her grandmother would take a bag to collect any trash or recyclables! Josephine is excited to be part of EcoAction Arlington because, like her grandmother, its members want to preserve outdoor spaces for future generations by fostering environmentally friendly and sustainable practices.
Sonia Jackson
Flint Hill
Sonia is a student at Flint Hill School, where she is Vice President of the Environmental Club. Environmental issues have always been important to Sonia and her family. She is especially interested in advocacy and joined the EcoAction Student Board to help make a difference in Arlington. Sonia is also a member of the Arlington Students for Climate Action group, a certified stream monitor to evaluate Arlington stream health, and helps to restore native ecosystems at Arlington Bon Air Nature Park. This summer she will participate in the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF)’s intern educational series program.
Sid Ghosh
Yorktown
Sid is a sophomore at Yorktown High School. He enjoys playing the saxophone and spending time outdoors, especially through backpacking with his Scouting America troop. Sid cares deeply about the environment, and looks forward to participating in stream cleanups and community outreach through EcoAction Arlington.
Julian Reisman
Gunston Middle School
Julian is a 7th grader at Gunston Middle School. This is his first year with EcoAction Arlington, but he is eager and ready to learn. Julian enjoys biking, gardening, playing tennis, and being outdoors. Julian cares a lot about the environment and wants to fight climate change and promote sustainable living. In fifth grade for the FIRST Lego League Challenge, Julian was part of a team called the Lego Bricksters that won first place for their innovation project focused on preventing childhood obesity. Julian’s project was about how to grow fruits and vegetables in one’s own yard or in community gardens.
Eva Vinik
Georgetown Day
Eva is a student at Georgetown Day and has volunteered at EcoAction since 2023. Eva is excited to promote sustainability through the student committee. Eva organized a phone banking initiative that made 10,000 calls to potential voters in Georgia. She is also on the board of the Jewish Youth Climate Movement—a Gen-Z led group committed to climate justice. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, running, biking, and playing soccer in Arlington’s outdoors.
