Featured Presentation with small group discussions
Our featured presenter is Katie Heffner, Senior Director of Partnerships and Engagement at Rare, an international conservation organization headquartered in Arlington. Katie will be providing an introduction to behavior change science and its importance to the climate movement. Rare’s insights show how to address the human, psychological, and social drivers behind environmental issues. Following Katie’s presentation, we will break into small groups for discussion around behavior change and the issue of reducing food waste, a significant contributor to climate change.
The facilitated small group discussions will examine how people make decisions and develop scalable actions that local residents can do in their daily lives to create lasting contributions to combat climate change. Participants will examine several scenarios related to reducing food waste and discuss how to best assess what facts are motivating people, what needs they have, and how to overcome any barriers to increase behaviors that reduce food waste.
