Good for People and the Planet: Climate Change and Our Health

Date: Wednesday, March 8, 2023 | Time: 6:30-9 p.m. | Location: Washington-Liberty High School Cafeteria, 1301 N Stafford St, Arlington

Join us at our 45th annual meeting.

Plan to join us for a feature presentation with Dr. Paulson and take time to connect and mingle with fellow Arlington residents. The event will also include the election of our board of directors and an overview of our programming for 2023. Christian Dorsey, Arlington County Board Chair, will deliver opening remarks.

The event will start with a reception from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. including light refreshments and exhibits. The program will follow from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

This event is open to all, you do not need to be a member to attend. All attending members will vote on our slate of Board of Directors. Become a member today to connect and engage in creating a sustainable community. Choose the membership option at checkout and become a member for $30 (that’s $5 off the membership rate) and you’ll be eligible to vote at the meeting and will be signed up to receive our newsletter & updates. Information on Getting There & Parking

 The Washington – Liberty venue is located at 1301 N. Stafford Street, Arlington. We are meeting in the cafeteria.  Here is a link to directions. The school is accessible from either the Ballston or Virginia Square lines on the orange line. If you are driving, there’s a parking garage adjacent to the building over I-66 as well as street parking along some parts of N. Stafford Street. You can access the garage from either N. Stafford Street or N. 15th Street. The cafeteria is on the 1st floor on the South side of the building. All guests must enter from the front door facing Stafford Street, entrance #1. After entering, you will go straight and the cafeteria will be on your right.  

There are handicap spaces out in front of the building as well as handicap spaces on the top parking deck lot A.

Featured Speaker

Jerome A. Paulson, MD is Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics and of Environmental & Occupational Health at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health. He spent the majority of his career teaching and practicing primary care in the system that bridges Children’s National Medical Center and George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He also taught in the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health. He is the founder of the American Academy of Pediatrics Program on Climate Change and a founding member of Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action (VCCA). He volunteers as a consultant to the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health fostering the development of state affiliated climate advocacy organizations.   

Dr Paulson holds a B.S. in Biochemistry with Honors and with General Honors from the University of Maryland, and an M.D. from Duke University. He did his residency training in pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins Hospitals and Sinai Hospital, both in Baltimore, as well as a fellowship in ambulatory pediatrics at Sinai Hospital. He lives in Alexandria, VA with his wife, Gwen Paulson.
