WHO WE ARE
Green Dining Arlington is an initiative of EcoAction Arlington that brings together Arlington restaurants to collectively develop, encourage, and implement green dining practices in our community.
Our surveys of local restaurants have revealed critical gaps in restaurants’ knowledge of why or how they should implement eco-friendly practices. Even restaurants that have taken action to reduce plastic usage – cutting out straws, plastic bags, and so on – are often unaware of what else they can do to be sustainable. Green Dining Arlington is here to help fill this gap.
Our goal is to connect restaurants with knowledge and resources that can help them build impactful, cost-effective green dining practices. Much of this expertise already exists in the Arlington community: at other restaurants, local vendors, nonprofits, or local government. Our volunteers aim to create a community of restaurants and organizations that work together to learn about and implement environmental dining practices in Arlington.
As Virginia Green Travel Association partners, we also support Arlington restaurants in certifying their environmental practices and connecting with a statewide network of organizations committed to sustainability.
Through these efforts, we hope to help residents discover green dining options and support local sustainability.

Our Green Dining Arlington (GDA) Initiative has launched a new partnership with the Virginia Green Travel Alliance.
This partnership will help our GDA initiative to recognize and promote green restaurants in Arlington, and to build restaurants’ knowledge of environmentally friendly practices.
As a Virginia Green Supporting Organization, GDA will help Arlington restaurants to certify their green dining practices with Virginia Green. Once they are certified, restaurants will have access to resources, learning opportunities, and a statewide network of organizations committed to sustainability in the tourism industry.
