Love Our Living World Stories: Self-Directed Nature Discovery Hike

December 23, 2020 by Michele Bianchi

a one-page discovery hike he developed for his own and other kids over a ten-year period. Chuck shared that what he likes most about it is that it enables young people to expand their awe for nature without collecting nature and physically bringing it home to end up in a corner or in the trash.

We invited you to share the ways you are connecting with nature and how you love our living world. Stories of connecting to nature and how it affects us are stories we all have and sharing them can help us all connect even more.

Chuck Kleymeyer sent us a one-page self-directed nature discovery hike he developed for his own and other kids over a ten-year period. Chuck shared that what he likes most about it is that it enables young people to expand their awe for nature without collecting nature and physically bringing it home to end up in a corner or in the trash.

We agree that a discovery hike is a wonderful way to connect with nature. Feel free to download the sheet or take a screenshot to save paper and happy hiking! We’d love to hear how you are connecting with nature, please share your stories with us here.

Share your stories with us here and on social media with #ecoactionbiophilia. For information on the Love Our Living World series visit our webpage.
