Members may join at any time. Please complete the Outreach Committee interest form.

The Outreach committee supports our mission and vision. The goal of the committee is to expand our reach and community engagement by planning outreach opportunities, building relationships, developing and implementing presentations and more. Any interested party may serve on the committee with a commitment of a one-year term.

Open Volunteer Positions

Event Photographers (ongoing enrollment)

Event Photographers

EcoAction Arlington is seeking photographer(s) to photograph our service and outreach events. The photographs will be taken for EcoAction Arlington’s use online including on our website and social media posts and in print media. All positions are unpaid and offer no benefits.

Requirements:

  • Experience taking engaging photographs for use in print and online media.
  • Ability to work independently.

Time Commitment:

  • These positions will require the contribution of approximately 5 to 10 hours per event including photographing the event and organizing and sending digital copies of the photographs. Event dates/times vary with most taking place on evenings and weekends.

Bottle Bill Campaign Coordinator(s) – Apply by January 2

EcoAction Arlington is seeking one or more coordinators to manage and support communications about bottle bill legislation during the 2027 legislative session. Working with state and regional environmental organizations, EcoAction Arlington plans to distribute educational materials and action alerts in support of efforts to pass a Virginia Bottle Bill and other legislation aimed at reducing waste and plastic pollution. This coordinator position may be extended beyond the end of the legislative session if opportunities for additional community engagement arise.

Requirements

  • Ability to track progress of relevant bills during the 2027 legislative session.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • An understanding of how to develop compelling calls to action related to environmental issues.
  • An interest or background in environmental policy.

Time Commitment

This position will take one to two hours a week in advance of the start of the legislative session on January 13 and then will take three to seven hours a week through the end of the session in late February.
