EcoAction Arlington along with the Coalition for Smarter Growth, Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions Arlington Hub, Leaders in Energy, Nature Forward, and Northern Virginia Conservation Trust sponsored a forum with candidates for the Arlington County Board. The forum provided a platform for candidates to share their ideas and proposals for addressing pressing environmental issues in Arlington related to climate change, sustainable development, and decarbonization.
Our local elected officials are critical decisionmakers in addressing climate change and transforming Arlington into a sustainable and resilient community. This year Arlington voters will be selecting two new members to the County Board. The Democratic primary will be held on June 20 (early voting started May 5) and the general election on November 7. To help voters decide, several local environmental groups asked each of the candidates vying for these open seats—six Democrats running in the primary and one independent candidate—to complete a questionnaire offering their position on climate change and sustainable development.
The Candidates
Audrey Clement (I), Maureen Coffey (D), Susan Cunningham (D), Jonathon Dromgoole (D), Natalie Roy (D), Julius J.D. Spain (D), Tony Weaver (D)
