Arlington Restaurants honored for “Green Dining”

snailofapproval-1024x1024Slow Food DC has announced their 2013 Snail of Approval recipients, which includes five Arlington restaurants and shops!

The Slow Food DC (SFDC) chapter represents the national capitol area. ‘ SFDC is a community that:

  • promotes and celebrates local, seasonal, and sustainable food sources
  • works to preserve the culinary traditions of the region’s ethnically and culturally diverse populations
  • and supports the right of all people to enjoy good, clean, fair food.

The Snail of Approval is Slow Food DC’s way of recognizing the food-related providers that are making significant contributions to the transformation of our food system to one that is good, clean and fair. In order to help guide DC patrons and visitors to food that is good, clean and fair, Slow Food DC will award the Snail of Approval to those artisans and eateries who contribute to the quality, authenticity and sustainability of the food we eat and the beverages we drink in the City of Washington, DC and surrounding areas.

The 2013 local winners are:

Busboys and Poets, 4251 Campbell Ave. ‘ Arlington, VA

Sweet Green, 4075 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA

Green Pig Bistro, 1025 N. Fillmore St., Arlington, VA

Tallula and Eat Bar, 2761 Washington Blvd., Arlington, VA

Crystal City FRESHFARM Market, 1801 Crystal Dr., Arlington, VA

Recipients will be nominated at the Snail of Approval ‘ Party on Sunday, September 22 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. ‘ The party will take place at Jackson 20 Restaurant and Tavern, 480 King St., Alexandria, VA. ‘ Ticketsare on sale now! ‘ To learn more about the event and a list of all the winners, visit Slow Food DC.
