This 2024 session of the Virginia General Assembly is now underway with opportunities to advance legislation to address tree canopy coverage and natural resources, strengthen the Virginia Clean Economy Act, support improvements in residential energy efficiency, and promote renewable energy and greater local authority to set energy and environmental policies. Other legislation to watch and oppose will seek to roll back the gains made in 2020 and 2021 to put Virginia on an equitable path toward decarbonizing the electric grid and transportation. The General Assembly session is fast paced and opportunities arise throughout for citizens to contact committee chairs and their representatives to support or oppose pending legislation.
